With more than 1000 years of recorded history to consider, Stockton has much to offer. This talk will be broadly selective using people, places and events – including the castle, market and the S&DR; the Civil War, cholera outbreaks and threatened invasions by the Scots and French; well-known characters such as John Walker and Thomas Sheraton but also lesser-known ones like the bank robber, the bigamist, the divorcee, the elopers and the dodgy solicitor/MP!
Join us for this illustrated talk, followed by a guided walk, taking in the new riverside Urban Park, the latest addition to the historic High Street.
Venue: CENTRAL LIBRARY’S JIM COOKE CONFERENCE SUITE
COST: £5 PP
